“I interned at the Office of Latino Affairs at the Department of Human Rights in Des Moines. The internship showed me more ways that one could get involved in government. We interviewed Latino business owners across Iowa and started working on profiles. We also collected data on their obstacles and what could be preventing Iowa Latinos from starting their own business.

This internship has meant a lot to me as I figure out what I want for my career. While I consider my options, this internship has inspired me to think about working for the government as well as other ways that I can be involved in my community. Government work had never interested me before, but I was shown the power that dedicated people working in government have to affect real change in people’s lives.”
