This Spring, the Iowa State University USLS program launched a new course: USLS 325: Iowa Latinos/as and the Immigration Experience. This course was taught by Dr. Megan Myers, who describes the course as follows:

The USLS 325 course, “Iowa Latino/as and the Immigration Experience,” builds a significant and sustained connection to Latino/a culture through participation in a community engagement project, students thus gaining an understanding of the local and regional (Midwest) Latino/a immigration experience. By interacting with local Latino/a youth from Perry High School via a mentoring project, students in the course were encouraged to think critically about community partnerships and also to connect on a personal and academic level with local Latino/a high school students. The semester ended with a visit to Iowa State by our friends and mentees from Perry.

The original announcement regarding the addition of the course can be found here.
